Elevating Digital Reality: Introducing Face Transfer 2

Face Transfer 2 process

In the realm of digital character creation, the pursuit of creating a 3D character with a recognizable likeness has been an important endeavor. Daz 3D, a leading innovator in 3D technology, has consistently pushed the boundaries of this pursuit, and with the introduction of Face Transfer 2, we’ve taken our innovations to the next level.

Face Transfer 2 marks a pivotal moment in the evolution of Daz’s Face Transfer technology, offering a suite of enhancements that elevate the art of character creation in Daz Studio to new heights. Building upon the success of its predecessor, Face Transfer 2 elevates the standard of human likeness, enabling you to craft 3D characters based on a photo with an uncanny degree of authenticity.

Unleashing Creative Potential with Genesis 9 Compatibility

A cornerstone of Face Transfer 2’s exciting capabilities lies in its seamless integration with Daz 3D’s Genesis 9 character generation system. Genesis 9 represents the latest generation of Daz 3D’s character creation technology, with 8K HD detailing, real-world proportions, and Daz’s Unified Figure system.

Face Transfer 2 interweaves with Genesis 9, ensuring that transferred facial features align with the character’s intricate facial structures. This compatibility results in an unmatched level of achievable likeness, allowing you to take a character based on a single photo and insert them into a variety of 3D scenes, from the historical to the modern and more.

Unveiling the Nuances with Enhanced Resolution

Face Transfer 2 elevates the quality of facial textures to new heights from its predecessor, employing higher-resolution texture maps to capture the details of the image. With this enhanced precision and by leveraging Daz’s existing texture maps, Face Transfer 2 can create a 3D character based on your image with a high degree of accuracy.

These high-resolution texture maps enhance your characters, imbuing them with the right details to create a 3D replica of your photo.  By capturing the essence of realistic human imagery through these texture maps, we aim to make 3D character creation more enjoyable for anyone utilizing Daz Studio.

Refined Image Projection for Unparalleled Accuracy

Face Transfer 2 refines the image projection process, ensuring that textures are mapped onto Genesis 9 characters to achieve a look-a-like character. This enhanced projection algorithm minimizes distortion and artifacts, resulting in a blend between the source image and the 3D character, a marked improvement from Face Transfer 1.

Dynamic Geometry Adjustments for Enhanced Likeness

Face Transfer 2 introduces dynamic geometry adjustments, enabling the software to intelligently adapt the underlying face shape to match the transferred features. This feature lets you achieve a new level of likeness in your character from the source image by understanding the volume and shape of the face.

Improved Color Matching for Lifelike Authenticity

Face Transfer 2 employs advanced AI powered color-matching techniques to match the skin tone and color variations of the source image. This improved color matching ensures that the transferred face blends with the character’s overall complexion, creating a natural and harmonious appearance. Mix and match features with your favorite Genesis 9 characters, or create a customized version tailored to your creative needs.

Not only this but, Face Transfer 2 incorporates AI deep learning models to intelligently identify the most relevant and recognizable features from the source image. This AI-driven selection process ensures that the transferred face retains the essence of the original person while minimizing the risk of introducing unwanted or warped geometric features, an improvement from Daz’s original Face Transfer.

Automatic Facial Hair Removal

Face Transfer 2 utilizes artificial intelligence to automatically detect and remove some facial hair from the source image. This AI-powered feature eliminates the need for manual editing, saving time and effort while ensuring that the transferred face is free of any unwanted hair artifacts.

Unveiling a Dramatically Improved Shader

Face Transfer 2 introduces a dramatically improved shader that enhances the overall appearance of the transferred face compared to Face Transfer 1. This advanced shader delivers a more lifelike skin, with improved subsurface scattering, lighting effects, and skin detail. With this new and improved shader, users can get a better initial result by preserving the Genesis 9 skin shader depth and by leveraging additional skin maps.

Unleash Your Creativity with Face Transfer 2

Face Transfer 2 empowers you to unleash your creativity and create 3D characters based on a photo. You can try out hairstyles, clothing, body shapes, tattoos, and more – all backed by Daz’s Genesis 9 advancements. With its improved texture mapping, refined image projection, dynamic shaping adjustments, enhanced color matching, AI-powered facial hair removal, AI-driven feature selection, and a dramatically improved shader, Face Transfer 2 unlocks a world of possibilities for digital artists and 3D creators. • This would be a top of the line program if it used more than just one photo. A forward facing photo
is only going to catch some detain, but from other views it’s useless because there is no profile details.
Surly after all these years and the fact you keep charging more and more for subpar programs, that
you guys can do better. And why isn’t this a free upgrade to current Face Transfer users?

  • daniel pylican says:

I bought this and can’t seem to find how to get it into my daz studio. I have face transfer already but no face transfer 2? Why is that? and when I do make new characters with face transfer they have daz studio logo in their forheads.

    • Hello! That sounds like you’re still in the trial version. Have you inputted the serial number from your purchase into Daz Studio? Check out our Youtube for a tutorial on that.

  • Anderson Soares says:

Hello, I need to ask a question,
I only see Face Transfer 1 installed.
Everything I have to do will only work for Genesis 8.
    What am I doing wrong?
    Thanks! 🙂

    • Hello! Did you input the Face Transfer 2 serial number in Daz Studio after your purchase? Genesis 8 will only work on Face Transfer 1 (Face Transfer Unlimited) vs Face Transfer 2 supports Genesis 9 characters.

  • CyberneticHFX says:

You are mentioning/referring to’ Face Transfer 1, but I failed to find it. You may mean, Face Transfer Unlimited, which I do have a content license for. Also, I did not find Face Transfer 2’s Trial Version.

  • As you see in my capture screen, no room for me to input and I only can find face transfer but no face transfer 2 in the plugin box.

    • Yes! Be sure to update your Daz Studio to the latest version and the Mac device will need to running macOS 13.2 or above in order to use Face Transfer 2

  • Hi,
I have FT1 and recently bought FT2. When I look at “About installed Plug ins”, I do not see any indication of FT2 or a field for it’s serial number. Please advise. Thanks!

    • We hope you were able to get this working! Make sure your Daz Studio is updated to the latest version. Also, we recommend updating the product, “Genesis 9 Starter Essentials”. That product has been updated to add some supplemental files for Face Transfer 2 to do certain parts of its job. Submit a tech support ticket here if the problem continues: https://bugs.daz3d.com/hc/en-us/requests/new

  • Melvina McElroy says:

    Hello,
I purchased this item and it do not work. I have everything installed correctly and it keep asking for the starter items, but they are installed with the regular Daz and there is no way to intall it just for the beta version. How do I get a refund.

  • Dennis S Gorscak says:

Finally got Face Transfer 2 up and running. The only issue is that it asks to find the file “genesis 9 Female with Basic Wear”. However, no such file exists. What are we missing?

  • Same with me. Face Transfer 1.61 in the plugins list. It’s not possible to paste the serial number of Face Transfer 2. And there was never an installation on DIM.

  • So, I am working on a Windows 10 workstation.
Purchased the Face Transfer 2. Downloaded the PDF of how to active the Face Transfer.
Followed the directions, but it won’t open a place to input my serial code.
Tried to remove the original Face Transfer, but that did not work.
    Anything else I can try?

    • Is your Daz Studio updated to the latest version? We would suggest also update the product, “Genesis 9 Starter Essentials”.
This is because the product has been updated to add some supplemental files for Face Transfer 2 to do certain parts of its job. You can contact tech support here for more help: https://bugs.daz3d.com/hc/en-us/requests/new

  • Michael Hirschböck says:

Hello I bought Face Transfer 2 as well but there is no possibillity to activate on MAC!! I know that the Face Transfer 1 was only for Windows but in the description of the new one there is MAC 64 bit mentioned as well possible. Whats going wrong?

  • so i have been looking all over for tutorials on how to install FaceTransfer 2 but when i go to DAZ3D it doesn’t show that it’s on there(i did purchase it tho)

  • Mario Mendoza Vera says:

Same Anderson Soares, I only see the Face Transfer 1, I don´t find the serial key -not in the email- I have seen the youtube tutorial

  • Venca Page Tamila says:

Good morning. I bought a Face Transfer 2 today But you don’t show me in the Daz3D program or where to enter my key. All I have there is Face Transfer 1, which I have active and when I put the Manager installation, nothing showed up for installation. Thank you in advance for your response.

    • To input the serial number for Face Transfer 2:
copy the serial number for Face Transfer 2 in your Daz Account by going to the Serial Numbers tab (https://www.daz3d.com/downloader/customer/serialnumbers)
In Daz Studio, go to Help > About Installed Plugins
Find “Face Transfer 2” and enter the serial number into the text box next to it
      Click “OK”
You will need to restart Daz Studio to finish registering the product
“Face Transfer 2” should be listed in About Installed Plugins if they are using the latest version of Daz Studio
If customers are only seeing “Face Transfer” after going to Help > About Installed Plugins, then most likely they will need to update Daz Studio to the latest version and check again.

  • Hello, i bought this(face transfer 2). and input my serial number in about installed plugins, but it is not activate and This phrase(“This plugin is disabled”) keeps coming up..
I already check tutorial in youtube, So can you give me a clear solution

  • Seems like my serial doesn’t work at all.. i write it and there is no check mark after write so i can’t apply the serial. Like the person above mentioned i have only Face Transfer 1 and it’s generate G8 characters.

  • Wide-angle lenses and telephoto lenses capture the subject differently. I want the ability to modify the generated model. For example, I would like to be able to adjust “wide angle ↔ telephoto” with a slider.

  • Hi, I payed for facetranfer 2 i have entered the produkt key in, but still when I try to use it on my gen 9 figure, it just opens a new gen 8 model. What are i doing wrong? Any other software i need?

  • By the way, there is no option input the Face Transfer 2 serial number in Daz Studio pluggin list. Face Transfer 2 is not listed in the plugin. i have the original face tranfer unlimited activated

  • do I get this right?
The Refined Image Projection for Unparalleled Accuracy,
Dynamic Geometry Adjustments for Enhanced Likeness,
Improved Color Matching for Lifelike Authenticity,
    Automatic Facial Hair Removal
    and the Dramatically Improved Shader
    are only available/compatible with G9?

    • There are some inherent improvements to Face Transfer 1 because of shared code between the two plug-ins, but most of these enhancements listed only apply to Face Transfer 1

  • So on the Purchase page, it is on sale for $34.97 USD. But in the description, it says it is a demo and you only get three transfers like FT1? Or is that only a demo until you manually enter a serial number?

    • Face Transfer 2 is fully released now, purchasing it will give you access to unlimited transfers with no watermark. Just input the serial key into your Daz Studio software under the Face Transfer Pane.

  • I have similar question. FaceTransfer2 has manual install, but in my purchased library I do have only option to download PDF manual and not the product.
For some reason I do not have button to download FaceTransfer2 product.
Is it included inside the main Daz3D product?… maybe I have to update my Daz3D to the latest one?

    • the trial version should be included with the latest version of Daz Studio and can be found in the Face Transfer pane. Update your Daz Studio to the latest version.

  • Stephen P Lee says:

Where do you input the serial number if Face Transfer 2 is not listed in “About Installed Plugins” under Help? There is not a place to input a serial number and register this item in DAZ3d, that I can find.

  • I just realized that Face Transfer 2 is only Genesis 9. Are there any enhancements for the Face Transfer tool for Genesis 8 as a result of this? Are all the changes to the transfer afforded because of Genesis 9? And this means if I want to utilize Genesis 8 at all I have to go purchase the other Face Transfer Unlimited?

    • There have been some general fixes/tweaks that (positively) affect the Face Transfer (1) plugin as a result of improvements to shared code paths between 1/2. But unfortunately at this time, Face Transfer 2 only supports Genesis 9.

  • Seems to work MUCH better than FT1. One thing I would like to be able to do is choose the base MAT/Skin that is used. as the vanilla Gen9 Mat does not always meet my needs. Are the AI calculations hard coded based on the vanilla MAT, or are they performed real time? If they are done in real time, could I not replace all the vanilla Gen9 textures/Mats with the skin of my choice, then have it perform the face transfer calculations which would inadvertently use that MAT set, rather than the default? And then I could copy them all back to restore the vanilla set to Gen9. Couldn’t you code that in as an option? Select Character Mat to use for calculations (default->chosen char) copy all related mat files to a temp folder, process face transfer based on that temp dir’s selection/content? It remove my need to replace and restore the default MAT/texture file each time I want to use a different base MAT/Skin

  • Mike Miyasaki says:

Hi, I’m on an intel mac, and I do not see the option in the plugins for Face Transfer 2? All my plugins are green. No blanks or any box for serial number? Thanks.

  • When I go to input the serial number in the plug-in section, I’m not given any field to enter the number for either Face Transfer 1 or 2. What gives?

  • VICTOR G. OVSEY says:

The hair around eyes and makeup is being picked up. It would be nice if this was not done. It would be nice to have an option to remove eyebrows. Also shadows below the chin are also picked up on the final maps. It would be simpler to have it not show up. However, much Cudos!

  • My Daz Product Library shows Face Time 2 but I don’t see
FT 2 as an installed Plugin and therefore no FT 2 pane is available. I’m running DS 2.22 and 2.21.1 on a Mac 11.7.10 (Big Sur). What gives?

  • Hi I am wondering if there is a need of manully install the face transfer 2 into daz first? I purchased and got my serial number but when i tried to look for the face transfer 2 to type my number in, there is only face transfer 1 available. and my serial number certainly not fit to the 1. can you help me with that plz, thanks

  • Hello,
I purchased the Face Transfer 2 for Mac. I have Intel on my Mac, not M1 or M2.

I am getting the message “No supported Face Transfer Engine” when I open the pane and upload a photo.

    What am I doing wrong?

    Thanks

  • Kendrick de Lepper says:

Greetings, I’m having the same problem as Anderson Soares
    (November 27, 2023 at 2:17 pm)’
I have input the Face Transfer 2 serial number into Daz Studio plugins (replacing the frace transfer 1 serial number, it will not allow me to click “OK”.

  • Kendrick de Lepper says:

    Greetings,
I went onto the DAZ Studio plugin section in DAZ Studio to change the serial number from Face Transfer 1, and tried inputting the serial number for Face Transfer 2, but it will not allow me to click on “Okay” button.

  • really needs a side profile picture as well as front to give a more accurate result, are there any plans to update this in the future??

  • Enter the serial number of face transfer2 and reboot to import the picture normally and create a genesis avatar, but when it’s complete, a pop-up called “Failed to load the base material preset. The image will still transfer, but with reduced quality” will pop up. I want to know why the pop-up is popping up.

  • I have been having issues with face transfer 2 since its release. None of the transfers look anything like the photo of the person i am using. A week ago i had a friend of mine who is a professional photographer take pictures for me, and still the final render looks absolutely nothing like the person i the photo.

  • When will we be able to include more photos? A front face is fine, but without profile face photos the details will be lacking. The release of Transfer 2 is nice with the new improvements…. but come on, still no options for including profile photos. Definitely not worth the money. I am very upset that I purchased this.
